Preparing your own baby food is not only cost effective approach, but also a great way for the introduction of fresh fruit, vegetables and meat on a child's diet. Good nutrition begins early and prepare your own food you can control what ingredients go into your baby's food. Not only that you are laying the foundation of your child's diet, but you'll be saving in your child's food costs as well, which can quickly add up. Preparing your own food is simple and less time then some May think. All you need to give your baby a quality fresh food fresh or frozen vegetables, fruits, meat and food processor or blender.
Here are some of my top 5 favorite and easy to try pureeing food choices with their little bundle.
1) Strawberries
1 cup frozen or fresh strawberries. Blend to desired then pour into ice trays to freeze some for later use or for your baby now. If you are not mixing well, add ½ cup water mixer. Fruits are easy to blend and can mix and match them to mix your baby's diet and exposed them to a wide arrange of fruit.
2) Chicken with lemon zest
Cook your chicken breasts as you normally would. After it is cooked thoroughly, add a blender or food processor to cut up the pieces. Next add the lemon zest using a grater. I would delight one or two lemons, depending on how much chicken you're hacking up. Then add ½ cup water (more if needed). At the end of the mix until completely blended and the right consistency for your child.
3) Spaghetti
Cook spaghetti as you would normally cook for yourself or your family, and then put some in a blender for the baby to enjoy! It was an instant hit with the babies. You can even sneak in a vegetable here with some mashed carrots.
4) sweet potatoes
Bake for 1 or two sweet potatoes until tender. Peel off the skin and place in blender with ½ teaspoon of cinnamon. Blend all ingredients until smooth. You can add water if necessary to reach desired consistency.
They are intended for babies or freeze some for later.
5) Ham and pineapple
Cook the ham as you normally would. After it is cooked thoroughly, add cut up pieces of the blender with fresh pineapple chunks. Serve immediately or freeze for later. This is a wonderful meal to go with sweet potato puree, as well.
As your child gets older you can make your own purees little thicker, so that they can adapt to different food textures. Remember to always wash your hands before preparing your baby food and keep raw meat away from the place where you can prepare any other purees in order to avoid contamination. With a little planning and preparation you give your child the best start in the diet.
